Our Guiding Principles – Montessori Method

The guiding principles of Montessori education are the same across all age levels, and are grounded in over one hundred years of work with children around the world.

Respect

In Montessori classrooms, teachers respect children as separate and unique individuals. They guide children to respect the people and objects in their environment.

Hands-on learning

Montessori classrooms are interactive environments in which direct exploration is not only encouraged, but also necessary.

Discovery

One of the most profound differences between Montessori education and conventional education is that, in Montessori, children are given the experience of discovering the answer for themselves.

Imagination

Montessori classrooms support the development of imagination and creativity at every stage of learning.

Freedom of Choice

Montessori allows freedom of choice within clear, firm and reasonable boundaries, children act in positive ways that further their development.

Independence

In Montessori classrooms, this natural drive towards independence is fostered through practical, social, and intellectual experiences.

Our Education Program

Language Arts

Here this area child will begin learning about letters, phonics sounds, and reading. Here, you might find sandpaper letters that your child can trace with their fingertips to familiarize themselves with the ABCs

Sensorial

Here child will learn to notice details like color, shape, texture, smell, sound, weight and temperature. In other words, they’ll use their five senses to learn important details about their world.

Math

In the mathematics area, your child will learn skills that will help them master math courses later on. Montessori materials are meant to be self-correcting, which helps your child become an independent learner.

Moving Alphabet

This is a key material used in the Montessori approach to reading and writing. The moveable alphabet gives a child the ability to express himself in written words, without being able to hold and write with a pencil.

Sand Tracing Tray

Geometric Solids

The Geometric Solids are one of many Montessori materials that challenge and shape a child's stereognostic sense, which is their ability to perceive and understand both the form and nature of objects through touch

Golden Beads Materials

Golden Bead materials are used to visually represent the quantity of a number and how those numbers interact with each other. It is for children to become more aware with units, tens, hundreds, and thousands

Number Rods

The Number Rods expose students to the concept of measurement. Instead of looking at two rods and saying, “this one is longer,” now the student is able to actually quantify exactly how much longer.

Spindle Box

This activity helps the child gain a muscular impression of quantity, promotes listening skills and it helps the child develop the concepts of numerical sets, as well as giving the child further practice in associating each number with its real quantity.

Science & Culture

The cultural studies area is where your children will learn about the greater world around them. This area contains items pertaining to geography, history, science, art and music.

Practical Life

In the Montessori philosophy, independence is valued, and it’s important for children to practice daily practical skills that are useful in life outside of the classroom. That’s the focus of the practical life skills area of the classroom.

Geography

Montessori Art focuses on the process and allowing the child to truly experience art on his own terms. Children need to learn that it’s okay to make mistakes and get messy and that there’s more than one way to be creative.

Science

Cooking

Grasping a handle and pouring water or grains helps children develop fine motor control. These simple activities isolate single skills children will later need, in combination, for more complex processes.
